Calendar

This is the place to keep track of Birthdays, Anniversaries, Reunions and other family events. All members of your FamilyBuzz.com site can access all listings that are not marked private.

See day view

Click the number of the date you wish to view. You will be given a full-page view of any events on that date. You can also click the "Day View" and the highlighted date will be shown.

Go to another month

In the drop down menu above the current month select the month you would like to view. Or, click on the name of the previous or next month in the upper corners of the calendar.

Add event

In the Calendar section click the "Add Event" button. In the box that pops up enter the event date, start and end time, event type, event name and a description of the event. If you enter a start time and/or an end time, check the corresponding box to the left of the times so they will be entered. The times are optional -- if you do not want to include them with the event, do not check the boxes. When you have finished click the "Add" button at the bottom of the box and your event will be added to the calendar.

Add private event

Select private in the "event type" section of the event window. The event will then only be visible to you.

Add/Edit a reminder

After an event is added or edited a confirmation window will come up. Click the "Add Reminder" button for a window to come up to give you the option to send out an e-mail reminder to yourself and others. Fill out the window and click "Save". You (and others you selected) will receive reminder e-mail on the date you set. Reminders will also be visible on the Calendar page by everyone in your family or group (for public events) or by yourself (for private events).

Edit event

Click on the event you wish to edit (all events are listed in red on the calendar), click the "Edit" button and, make any changes to the event in the window that opens. Click the "Edit" button at the bottom of the page and your event will be updated. NOTE: you may only edit the events that you have created. The administrator can edit all events.

Delete an event

Click on the event you wish to delete. In the window that comes up click the "Delete" button. NOTE: You can only delete events that you have created. The administrator can delete any event.



Message Board

Post a message

Click the "Post A Message" button in the Message Board section. Fill in the form that pops up and click the "Post" button.

Read a message

To open messages click the underlined subject of any message posted.

Reply to a message

If you wish to reply to a message simply click the "Post A Reply To This Message" button at the bottom of the message. Fill out the form that pops up and click "Post". Your reply will be placed right under the message you are replying to.

Edit a message

Only the author of a message or the family administrator can edit or delete a message. If you fall into one of these categories editing a message is simple. Open the message you wish to change and press the "edit" button. Make your changes in the form that pops up and click "edit". Your message will be updated on the message board.

Delete a message

Only the author of a message or the family administrator can edit or delete a message. If you fall into one of these categories deleting a message is simple. Open the message you wish to delete and click the "delete" button. Your message will no longer show up on the message board.



Photos

Add a photo

Click the "Add A Photo" button in the Photo Album. In the window that comes up type a description of the photo, select or create a category and select the photo you wish to upload. You may also choose to send a notice to family or group members informing them that a new photo has been uploaded. NOTE: Only GIF and JPEG images can be uploaded. The name of the files must not contain spaces. The name of GIF images must end with ".gif" and the name of JPEG images must end with either ".jpg" or ".jpeg".

View a photo

Click on the photo you wish to view. It will open in its own window. To close a photo click "Close Window" at the bottom of the window.

Download a photo

Right click on the photo you wish to download in the pop-up window. Select "Save image as" and a save window will pop up asking where you would like to save the photo.

Delete a photo

Open the photo you wish to delete, at the bottom of the window click the "Delete" button. NOTE: Only the user who uploaded a photo or the family/group administrator can delete a photo.



File Cabinet

What is the File Cabinet?

The File Cabinet is an area where you can share files (screen savers, word documents, utilities etc...) with members of your family or group.

Upload a file

To upload a file click the "Upload A File" button in the file cabinet. In the window that comes up type the description of the file you wish to upload. Then in the "Select File" field type in the path to the file you would like to upload. This must be exactly correct, so it's easier to click the "Browse" button and select the file from anywhere on your computer. You may also choose to send a notice to family or group members informing them that a new file has been uploaded.

Download a file

To download a file click the "Download" button beside the file you wish to download. Select "Save File" and type the full file name (including the extension) where it says "Enter_File.Name".

Delete a file

To delete a file click the "Delete" button next to the file you wish to delete. Note: Only the user who uploaded the file or the family administrator can delete a file in the File Cabinet.



Chat

What is Chat?

Familybuzz.com Chat allows you to have a real time (typed) conversation with any member of your family/group.

Start a new chat session

To start a chat session enter the Chat section of your site. If you are the only one in the chat area a new chat session will begin. If a chat session is already in progress you will join in.

How to chat

Simply type what you want to say in the box with the blinking cursor, and press the "enter" key. Your words will appear for all to see in the chat box. Follow hints that are scrolling at the bottom of the chat window for further suggestions.

Invite a member of your family to chat

Members of your family/group who are online will be listed below the chat box. If you wish to invite them to join your chat session click on their name and an instant message will be sent to them requesting they join you in the chat room.

Address Book For Members

This is the place to keep track of your family/group addresses, phone numbers and email addresses. You can also keep a private list of contacts that only you have access to. All members of your FamilyBuzz.com site can access all listings that are not marked private.
